Tasting Room Manager

Full time position, working 4 weekdays and one day on the weekend, and on public holidays as required

Reporting to Global Sales & Marketing Manager

Balhannah, South Australia

 

Role Definition

The Tasting Room Manager is responsible for managing the Tasting Room at Shaw + Smith's Balhannah property.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Staff Management

  • Manage Tasting Room staff
  • Prepare staff rosters
  • In conjunction with Marketing, manage regular staff training covering wine knowledge, customer service, and sales
  • Recruit Tasting Room staff

 

Customer Service & Sales

  • Delivery of wine and cheese flight for Tasting Room customers
  • Promote responsible service of alcohol
  • Represent the company in the Tasting Room, and at off-site events
  • Continually improve Tasting Room visitor experience
  • Achieve targets for Tasting Room sales, mailing list sign ups, and Wine Club acquisition
  • Manage all Tasting Room and Wine Club phone and email enquiries
  • In conjunction with the Direct Marketing Manager, deliver outbound telemarketing campaigns

 

Database Management

  • Oversee use and maintenance of ImPOS point of sale software and CRM tool VIN65
  • In conjunction with Direct Marketing Manager, input Tasting Room customer data

 

Operations and Logistics

  • Manage the dispatch of all customer direct orders
  • Manage the dispatch of all samples, as required by Marketing
  • Open and close premises
  • Order and reconcile all Tasting Room stock and supplies
  • Coordinate Point of Sale in conjunction with Marketing
  • Comply with all Responsible Service of Alcohol requirements
  • Ensure Safe Food Handling requirements are met
  • Manage OH&S policy and procedures for the Tasting Room

 

Wine Club

  • Manage team Wine Club acquisition targets in the Tasting Room
  • In conjunction with Direct Marketing Manager, manage Wine Club shipments
  • Deliver personalised Wine Club member service

 

Events

  • Manage caterers and event suppliers
  • In conjunction with Marketing, manage events from start to finish, including set up and break down.
  • Manage the application of limited liquor licenses 
  • Coordinate all aspects of VIP visits, in conjunction with Marketing

 

Requirements

  • Wine knowledge, preferably including some formal training, e.g. WSET. 
  • Customer service and sales experience, preferably in artisan or super premium consumer products
  • Current Responsible Service of Alcohol certification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage a team 
  • Demonstrated willingness to work hard
