Medium bodied with gentle cherry and strawberry aromas. A very drinkable light to medium bodied style with good Pinot character and soft tannins.
The 2013 vintage shows good concentration of flavour with the start of some delicious savoury Pinot characters that come with bottle age.
Growing and Making
From selected blocks and parcels of our estate vineyards in Balhannah and Lenswood. Hand picked and fermented in small open fermenters with gentle hand plunging. Matured in French oak barriques for 10 months.
2013 was a fine growing season, with some warm days balanced by consistently cool nights. It was a relatively dry season, and grapes ripened a touch earlier than usual. The weather leading up to harvest was mostly dry, ensuring perfectly healthy fruit.
Produced from estate vineyard fruit and only in suitable years, the Incognito wines are given the same focus and attention as those under the Shaw + Smith label: low yields, hand picked and French oak.
The Incognito label is made in small quantities and flies under the radar, meaning you will rarely see it in shops or restaurants. The wines are made in a more approachable style for earlier drinking.
