Story

Winemaker Notes
Our Shiraz blocks at Balhannah are planted at a high density of 5555 vines/ha, on a north-facing slope. The site has consistently given us Shiraz with lovely perfume, bright fruit, intensity, and balance.

Reviews

James Halliday - Wine Companion - October 2019

Hand-picked and sorted, open-fermented as whole berries and whole bunches, matured for 14 months in used French puncheons, then a further 14 months in bottle. The wine is still in its infancy, black fruits, spice, pepper and licorice in a Catherine wheel of flavours. It's a special wine that will have a very long life as the tannins are fully tamed. 97 Points

Nick Butler - The Real Review - August 2019

More dark red than purple in colour. The aromatics are spiced and complex - cured meats, bunch-spice, a Rhône sensibility. Supple and compelling on the palate, plums and cinnamon, even a hint of truffle. This is simply a beautiful wine. Whole-bunch work is measured and adds lovely freshness. It blossoms with time in the glass. Pure class.

95 Points, James Suckling - June 2019

Wow! Attractive plums, hazelnuts, smoked meat and terra cotta. Full body and round, silky tannins. Juicy undertones. Delicious finish. Love the texture and tension to this one. Drink now.
