Nathan Slone - Jamessuckling.com - October 2022
Such a deep nose, with a wide spectrum of candied citrus, fresh butter and stunning, leesy complexity. Great concentration and restrained richness, with wonderful mineral freshness give this near-perfect balance. So much drive at the extremely long, lemon and lime-zest finish. 97 Points.
Andrew Caillard MW - The Vintage Journal - July 2022
Pale colour. Intense white peach nectarine, grapefruit aromas, with tonic water/ flinty notes. Beautifully concentrated white peach, nectarine fruits, very attractive flinty, yeasty/biscuity notes, fine lacy textures, superb mid-palate viscosity and pure fresh linear acidity. Finishes chalky with abundant ripe stone fruit notes and beautiful mineral length. A textbook ultra-fine chardonnay with wonderful definition, creaminess and vinosity. Drink soon to take advantage of the fruit clarity, but should keep for a while. 98 Points.
Ray Jordan - Wine Pilot - July 2022
Gosh this is a damn fine chardonnay. It's an incredibly fine and almost delicate chardonnay, yet it builds with relentless power to a long and sustained finish or tremendous length. Has a chalky minerally accentuating the tension and taut lines, yet it releases a mountain of flavour intensity. The oak and fruit combination is so good. Some quite remarkable wines came from this region in this year and this is another of them. 97 Points.
Huon Hooke - The Real Review - June 2022
Light, bright colour leads into a refined bouquet of straw/toast, Weetbix, smoked charcuterie and a subtle lemony background. Exceptional refinement as well as intensity, and there's a backing of subtly gripping tannin and the faintest trace of bitterness, while the overall impression is deliciously mouth-watering and delicate, lemon/citrusy and long. The oak is nigh invisible. A top food wine. 96 Points.
Tyson Stelzer - Australian Wine Business Monthly, Trade 50 Reviews - May 2022
Impressively coiled and reductive. A Chardonnay of real tension, riding a line of lemon and grapefruit, well toned by cashew nut French oak and nicely accented with struck flint reductive top notes. One for the cellar. 96 Points.
Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front - May 2022
The length of the palate here is impossible to deny as indeed is its elegant style. It feels calm and considered throughout, and it sails out beautifully through the finish. Whether or not the fruit is up to A Grade/Gold Medal standard is the question: nectarine, apple and pear flavours come infused with cedar and smoke, the effect both impressive and delicious. But as good as it is, it could do with just a little more power, a little more intensity. 93 Points.
Jeni Port - James Halliday Wine Companion - December 2021
Offers a journey into the deep heart of Adelaide Hills chardonnay country which is both filigree fine and powerful. Quite the winemaking statement in what was a difficult year. Expect citrus, flint, grapefruit pith and bite, peach skin and nectarine. Arrives with both texture and length, beautifully detailed and enhanced by lemony bright acidity. Early days for this lip-smacking, gorgeous thing. 96 Points.
