Huon Hooke, The Real Review - July 2024
Medium red-purple colour, bright and youthful. Sweet raspberry, red cherry and floral aromatics, good intensity and a solid backing of firm but measured tannins supplying backbone and adding to length. A pretty serious pinot noir, with impact and persistence, that would reward a little extra time in bottle. 94 Points.
Shanteh Wale, Wine Pilot - June 2024
In case you were not aware you are drinking some of the first grapes picked from the S+S high density planting of the Piccadilly vineyard. Satsuma plum, pomegranate, lapsang souchong tea and blackberry. Black cardamom, allspice and long pepper. Grated nutmeg, white pepper and tobacco leaf. A hint of terra cotta and sandy middle palate tannins. Acidity is kept at bay without being sluggish. A wine that goes with the flow and showcases the exotic perfume the Hills can achieve. Drink now and serve with Argentinian beef empanadas. 93 Points.
International Wine Challenge - May 2024
Bright yet subdued, still youthful nose. Red fruits sous bois and bakery spice nuances, lively pallet, fresh and edgy with elegant concentration and sweet persistence. 95 Points.
Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion - April 2024
It's got bold perfume, hallmark cherry and cranberry fruit characters, a sketch of dried herbs, black pepper, charry spices and some new leather characters. While pinot descriptors roll off the tongue, per se, there's also a darker, more brooding note in the wine, a teetering into dry red territory over more pure and flowing pinosity – a niggle for some seeking gloss and silkiness over a more guttural, firm experience. And in that, a stake in the ground has to be made. 90 Points.
